Truth is, we have so much software and sample banks available already that bothering with dongled software is just not worth it. I just don't use it either legally or illegally. On the other hand, I would buy a plugin or a sample bank I really like and that doesn't use any draconian protections that would make using it more of a chore than pleasure. I also have personal bad experiences with such protections.
